RENOWNED Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, commonly known as K1, has come under heavy criticisms over his perceived alignment with the government amidst widespread economic hardship.
The singer, who has been a vocal figure in the music industry, faced backlash for purportedly failing to criticize the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu.
Criticism against K1 escalated following accusations that he refrained from addressing the plight of Nigerians and neglects to use his influence to advocate for their interests.
Many argued that his proximity to the corridors of power has silenced his voice on issues affecting the populace, leading to skepticism regarding his allegiance.
In an exclusive interview with R, K1 dismissed these allegations, vehemently denying any ulterior motives or cozy relationships with government officials.
“I am not close to the seat of power to milk the government,” he affirmed, addressing rumors of his alleged ties to the administration. He further asserted his commitment to standing by the people, asserting,
“I will always use my platform to support the people and chastise the government when it is necessary.”
Highlighting the prevailing economic challenges facing Nigeria, K1 acknowledged the hardships experienced by ordinary citizens, emphasising his empathy for those affected.
“It is funny how people think I don’t have problems because I know President Tinubu or I am close to his government,” he lamented, dispelling misconceptions about his personal circumstances.
“They tend to forget that I have a lot of people as family and dependents who are equally affected by the current economic condition of the country.”
While acknowledging the nation’s economic downturn, K1 urged for patience and resilience, drawing parallels with global economic trends.
“While Nigeria is currently facing economic downturn, the same problem of recession abounds in other countries of the world,” he reasoned, advocating for a collective effort to overcome these challenges.
Concluding on an optimistic note, K1 expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to rebound from its current predicament, envisioning a prosperous future for the nation.
“I am sure that in no little time, we will come out of it and be a prosperous nation we all can be proud of,” he affirmed, echoing sentiments of hope and resilience.
