Mrs Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the declaration of Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as winner of the February 25 election for Kogi Central Senatorial District.
TRIBUNE ONLINE reports Sadiku-Ohere beat Mrs Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to emerge winner of the keenly contested election.
Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, the INEC Returning Officer for Kogi Central Senatorial District, announced the result on Tuesday in Okene.
He said Sadiku-Ohere garnered 52,132 votes against Natasha’s 51,763 votes to clinch the seat, a difference of 369 votes between them.
“Engineer Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the APC having scored the highest votes in the election for the Kogi Central senatorial seat is hereby declared winner, and is therefore returned elected,” Ajayi said.
But reacting, Natasha faulted the process that saw Sadiku-Ohere emerged winner of the poll calling for review of the Kogi Central election.
“Good people of Nigeria especially Kogi Central. We appreciate you greatly for your support and love.
“As we get Independent National Electoral Commission to review the Kogi Central elections and declare Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan the winner, I’ll share with you just one of the many altered polling unit results.
“In PU 009 Ganaja Ajaokuta, APC scored 105 while PDP (Natasha) scored 751.
“Unfortunately, INEC recorded 205 for APC and 51 for PDP in the Form EC 8B which is the ward collation summary document.
“I reject the declaration of APC as winners of the Kogi Central Senatorial election,” Natasha said in a statement on Tuesday.
