The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded arrangements to conduct re-run elections in four state assembly constituencies in Bauchi State.
The state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mohammed Nura, said this in an interview with journalists on Sunday in Bauchi.
“The commission is conducting re-run elections on the 2023 general election, as directed by election petition appeal tribunals.
“Some 42 PUs across the four constituencies are affected by the court order.
“The elections are scheduled to take place simultaneously in all affected constituencies on February 3,” he said.
Mr Nura said elections would be held in four polling units in Bauchi Central, Zungur/Galambi, Madara/Chinade and Ningi 1 constituencies.
He said the election would be conducted in 10 polling units in Bauchi Central, 12 in Zungur/Galambi, 10 in Madara/Chinade, and 10 in Ningi Central.
The REC said the INEC had taken stock of non-sensitive election materials while awaiting supply of the sensitive items.
According to Mr Nura, the commission will begin the recruitment of ad hoc staff and hold an Inter Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) meeting next week.
He urged political parties and candidates to cooperate with the commission and adhere to the electoral laws for the seamless conduct of the exercise.
