Hon. Olubunmi Ezekiel Obeisun, former Chairman of Oriade Local Government Council and a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ijesa North Federal Constituency, has criticized the Osun State government, led by Sen. Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, for neglecting road infrastructure.

Obeisun accused the current administration of prioritizing entertainment over governance and citizen welfare. He urged the governor to focus on effective governance rather than engaging in public displays that do not address the pressing needs of the populace.

Under the current administration, poor infrastructure maintenance has become a pervasive issue, with the government often neglecting the rehabilitation of both existing and inherited infrastructures. Many major and access roads throughout the state have become impassable, posing significant hazards to residents and road users.

The deteriorating road conditions span from Osogbo to Iwo, Ikire to Gbongan, Ode-Omu to Ile-Ife, and many other towns and cities, creating dangerous travel conditions. These roads, riddled with numerous potholes, have become death traps, particularly affecting non-resident motorists passing through Osogbo.

Key areas such as Olaiya to Old-garage, Olonkoro to Igbonna towards Ayetoro and Omowest, and Ota-Efun to the newly tarred Osogbo/Ikirun roads are especially problematic, with countless deep potholes.

Furthermore, routes from Oja-Oba to Sabo Junction, Testing-ground to Aderin towards Power-line area, Dele-Yes-Sir to Dada-Estate towards Capital Area, and various sections in the state metropolis including Okefia, Oja-Oba to Ita-Olokan, Oke-Ayepe, Oja-Oba to Olugunna towards Agbede, and Oke-Baale are all in urgent need of attention.

Obeisun’s statements highlight the critical need for the state government to address these infrastructure issues promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of Osun State residents.
