One of the two hunters shot at a mining site in Itikan Village near Ifewara, Osun State, when some gunmen invaded the premises has passed on.
The hunter, it was gathered, died as a result of gunshot injuries he sustained when the site came under attack by some gunmen, who later abducted two Chinese working on the site.
Although, a member of the state leadership of Hunters Group of Nigeria, who prefers anonymity, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, further information could not obtained.
Calls to the telephone line of spokesperson of the Osun State Command of Nigeria of Police, Yemisi Opalola, to seek more clarification on the incident rang out.
Meanwhile, gunmen that abducted the Chinese miners in Itikan Village, Osun State on Monday have demanded a ransom of N10 million before the release of the victims.
The police spokesperson for the command Opalola disclosed this while featuring on a road programme monitored in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Opalola, however, said combined team of police and other security groups had launched manhunt for the perpetrators of the crime.
“The kidnappers are demanding ransom and we are still working on ways to rescue the Chinese expatriates.
“The kidnappers are demanding a sum of N10 million before they will release the Chinese expatriates.
“We plead with the general public to help the police with information that will help its men to be more efficient in securing lives and property in the state,” Opalola added.
