Jigawa state government has approved the recruitment of 9,972 private security personnel to curb the spate of insecurity across the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the state’s commissioner of information, Sagir Musa, saying the decision was taken at the state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Umar Namadi.

Musa noted that “in alignment with the state government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and properties, the council has approved the report of the committee on the safety of schools, health institutions, and courts across the state.

“The report recommends the adoption of preventive security strategies to ensure maximum protection for all primary and secondary schools (both day and boarding), high courts, magistrate and Shari’a courts, Primary Health Centers (PHCs), and general hospitals.

“To achieve this, the council has sanctioned the engagement of private indigenous security companies, employing 9,972 Jigawa State youths from the respective communities to serve as security personnel, fostering local employment and community-driven security solutions.”

The statement stated further that the state executive council approved the demolition of some buildings and structures at Gindin Dunya in the centre area in the capital city, Dutse to dislodge and clear immoral elements and attitudes conducted in the area.

He said “As part of its commitment to urban security and moral integrity in the state capital, the council has approved the sum of N421,194,051.06 for compensating property owners affected by the demolition of structures in Gindin-Dunya, Dutse.

“This measure is aimed at enhancing security and improving the overall societal well-being in the area.”
