During a routine medical check-up, I was diagnosed with Diabetes. In view of this, I was placed on some medications since according to the doctor, uncontrolled Diabetes is dangerous. I want to know if this is necessary since I seem to be medically okay.

When uncontrolled, Diabetes can affect many body systems. First, are the nerves in your feet, causing tingling, numbness, and pain. The disease can also affect the kidneys and its tiny blood vessels, eventually leading to kidney failure. Next, it can also affect the eyes, causing vision problems and even blindness as well as the heart and blood vessels, causing heart disease and stroke. It is for the above reasons that the ailment must be taken seriously before it causes too much damage. Although it currently has no cure, diet, drugs and life style changes are important factors that keep the disease under control.
