Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known as Terry G, has cautioned people to stop drawing comparisons between him and the controversial artist Portable.
In a post shared on X on Monday, Terry G slammed the comparison as disrespectful, stressing his long-standing impact and consistent presence in the music industry.

He noted that his songs are still widely played and relevant more than a decade later, which, according to him, clearly distinguishes him from Portable.

He wrote: “Comparing me to Portable is disrespectful because I actually have music people listen to 10 years later.”
Terry G, known for his unconventional and energetic style, shot to fame with hit songs such as “Akpako” and “Free Madness.”
Terry G’s sound typically fuses Afrobeats, dancehall, and street-hop, and he has remained a controversial figure in Nigeria’s music space because of his lyrics and outspoken personality.
His style, which merged Galala rhythms with White Garment influences and Hip Hop, had a quirky flair that many listeners now associate with Portable’s sound and fashion choices.
The pair have previously worked together. Portable featured Terry G on his track ‘Ogbafia,’ and they both appeared on C Prince’s song ‘Koba.’
