Kaduna ex-commissioner, Masha, emerges PDP chairman

A former Commissioner of Water Resources in Kaduna State, Mr Edward Percy Masha has been elected as the new Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State.

Masha polled 2,123 votes to defeat Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki who polled 250 votes.

The election which was monitored by INEC officials, National Officers of the PDP, and the media, was conducted amidst tight security at the International Conference hall, Kaduna Trade and Investment Centre (Trade Fair Complex) Kaduna.

In the same vein, a former Commissioner of Information in Kaduna State, Alhaji Saidu Adamu, emerged as Secretary of the Kaduna PDP unopposed during the State Congress of the party.

Godiya Ayuba Lolo was voted the State PDP Woman Leader haven scored 2,102 votes to defeat Angel Amadu.

Hon. Mariya Dogo, a former member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly polled 1,359 votes to emerge the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, while her opponent Hon. Nuhu Dogo Makama polled 525 votes.

The State Returning Officer Barrister Tanko Beiji announced the result Sunday morning at the Kaduna International Trade Fair Complex.

The Total number of delegates accredited was 2,268. Bronco won the Assistant Treasurer position with 1,544 votes, while Isman Ahmad Garba Garkuwa is the Vice Chairman Central with 2299 votes.

While the immediate past Youth Leader, Aliyu Bello returned as Financial Secretary, and Barrister Khalid Khalid emerged as the new Legal Adviser among other positions.

In his acceptance speech, Edward Percy Masha promised inclusive leadership during his tenure while promising to operate an open-door policy.

He also said in every contest a winner must emerge assuring that he would call on everyone to be on board and take PDP to success, particularly that the Local Government election is around the corner.

“We would reach out to our members, reconcile everybody, and create an atmosphere that everybody would be carried along.

“We would accommodate. We are coming on board at this time to ensure success of our party at the Local Government election …,” he said.

The outgoing Chairman of the PDP in Kaduna State and former Minister of Aviation, Mr Felix Hassan Hyet called on all members of the party to give the new leadership maximum support for the party to return to its former glory.

He also said they must return to winning ways, stressing that all must work towards consolidating the previous victory of three Senators, 10 House of Representatives seats, and 13 House of Assembly Members in the next month – October 19 Local Government elections.
