The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has declared Monday, July 8, 2024, a public holiday in commemoration of the beginning of the new Islamic calendar, 1446 AH.
The governor made this announcement through a press statement by the Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye.
According to him, the governor enjoined the people to utilize the holiday to reflect on the previous year and commit themselves to mutually beneficial activities that will bring succor to the people. “On its part, the government will continue to initiate policies and programs that will empower people to be self-dependent.”

Dantiye added that the governor urged the Muslim Ummah to intensify prayers for continued peace and progress in the state.
He expressed optimism that with prayers and the support of the people, his administration would turn around the fortunes of the state and return it to being the most economically prosperous state among its peers in the nation.
