Kano state government has announced plans to set up a committee of inquiry to investigate the causes of the violence and looting that occurred during the recent nationwide protests in the state.
632 Suspects Arrested
The government has also confirmed the arrest of 632 suspects for vandalizing public buildings during the protests. The suspects have been arraigned before various courts in Kano.
Committee’s Objective
The committee’s main objective is to determine the root causes of the violence, identify those responsible, and ascertain the extent of the damage caused.
Genuine Protesters’ Grievances
The government has received grievances from genuine protesters, which will be forwarded to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja for appropriate action.
Warning to Vandals
The government has warned that those found guilty of vandalism will be arrested and prosecuted, emphasising its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.
Russian Flags
The government has clarified that the protesters seen carrying Russian flags were not affiliated with the state government.
