Kano State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) intercepted a truck with over 4,600 bottles of beer in Kano.
It is worth noting that the state prohibits the sale and consumption of any alcoholic drinks in accordance with Sharia doctrine. Those engaging in such businesses are prosecuted in line with Sharia laws. Additionally, after necessary investigations in line with Sharia doctrine, most alcoholic drinks have been destroyed.
In a statement issued to newsmen by the Agency’s Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, and made available to the press in Kano, the agency confirmed the interception.
He stated, “The truck with registration number FGE 407 XB was apprehended along Ibrahim Taiwo road around 4:00 am by personnel of the Agency.
Immediately, the driver saw an officer of the Agency, he parked the truck and ran away.”
The statement also quoted the Managing Director, Engineer Faisal Mahmud Kabir, as saying, “Once the investigation is completed, we will hand them over to the Hisbah Board for necessary action.”
Alhaji Kabir further called on the general public to always support his agency for the security and safety of the state.
