NIGERIA’S Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo has called for synergy between the ministry and the unions in the sector, asking them to make a detailed presentation of their demands and other observations in writing.

The Minister, who made the appeal during a meeting with the leadership of Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) on how to foster harmony in the sector, appreciated the union’s support and solidarity with the Managements of the different agencies so far.

He appealed to the unions to sustain the support and pledged to work with them to achieve economic and human capital development, just as he promised to attend to their demands expeditiously. he asked the Union leaders to make a detailed presentation of their demands and other observations in writing.

Speaking earlier, the National President of Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Comrade AhmaduIlitrus expressed delight at the appointment of the Minister, particularly to the Aviation Ministry.

He expressed optimism that the transparency and human right attribute of the Minister will be brought to bear in his present assignment as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

He used the opportunity to lust the demands of the union to include pending relocation allowance for staff of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Nigeria Safety and Investigation Bureau (NSIB),capacity-buildingproposals from leadership of aviation unions; issues of inability of some agency to conduct the year 2023 promotional exercise.

Others include issues arising from tenure policy and retirement age of non-academic staff in the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT); Statutory 40 percent remittance to Federation Account from Aviation Agencies among others.
