The Kogi State Government has commended the federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy for the ongoing Project 774 LG Connectivity, stating that improved access to the internet will enhance service delivery at the local government level.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, expressed this commendation in Kabba on Wednesday during the installation of the connectivity facility at the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Secretariat by officials of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) and Galaxy Backbone.

He remarked, “The initiative marks an ambitious step by the Federal Government to improve service delivery by officials at the third tier of government.

“The Government of Kogi State views Project 774 Connectivity as a driving force to enhance digitization at the local government level and to bring home the benefits of internet penetration. I am delighted to launch this here today on behalf of the Governor, Government, and People of Kogi State.

“This pilot phase will cover five Local Government Areas: Lokoja, Kabba/Bunu, Okene, Okehi, and Bassa. The subsequent phase will encompass all the remaining Local Government Areas in the state.

The selection of a global force in the IT world, Dr. Bosun Tijani, as Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy will undoubtedly expose Nigeria to excellent opportunities that will revolutionize our ICT culture and opportunities.”

Fanwo assured the Federal Government that the beneficiaries would utilize the facilities effectively, considering it a bold step in providing digital public infrastructure in government offices across the country.

Through strategic partnerships and the deployment of cutting-edge technology, Project 774 LG Connectivity will offer local governments reliable and affordable internet access and the resources required to deliver efficient public service and stimulate economic growth.
