MGovernor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state on Thursday presented another 500 mattresses to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state to fulfill his earlier promise on corps members’ welfare.
It will be recalled that the governor, towards the end of 2023, furnished the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Yikpata with 500 mattresses to ease accommodation problems in the camp.
While delivering the mattresses on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Musa Nafisat Buge, said the governor’s gesture was in line with the state government’s obligation as stipulated in the NYSC Act.
The governor also said that Governor Abdulrahman is passionate about youth development, adding that he is willing to always support the scheme to achieve its mandate in the state.
The procurement of the mattresses has shown the continued collaboration between the NYSC and the state government, she added.
“His Excellency is out to give our corp members memorable and comfortable stay during the compulsory three (3) weeks orientation course at the camp ground, Yikpata. He is a father for all, and this act again shows the Governor’s immense support to the NYSC and its belief in the service ,” she added.
The Commissioner, who explained that the mattresses were available for use by all the corps members in the state, urged the NYSC to ensure proper maintenance.
Also speaking, the state coordinator, NYSC Kwara state, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa, while taking the delivery, appreciated the state government for the good gesture and assured that the mattresses would be put to judicious use.
Present at the handing over were the management staff of the Ministry of Youth Development, staff of the State NYSC body, and some corps members.
