Relations of a deceased hotelier in Kwara state, Adeniyi Ojo, reportedly killed last week in his hotel room, have described the death as an assassination.
The state Police command has said that the case was a suspected culpable homicide.
Adeniyi Ojo, who was in his early 50s, was killed by yet-to-be-identified persons in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
The late hotelier, before his death, was the managing director of his father’s hotel and hospitality business in the state.
A close relation of the deceased (name withheld) in Ilorin at the weekend said that, “On an ill-fated night, the deceased received a call in his office from another of his father’s hotels also in the metropolis, unknown to him that the caller was one of the agents of death.
“He allegedly got to the hotel that rainy night and met the two persons at the reception”, the source said.
A source said they were two men, another said they were women.
According to them, with some modicum of hospitality, it was gathered the unsuspecting Adeniyi invited them to his office in the hotel. That’s how they ended his life.
A source said that the agents of death pounced on him, tied his hands to his chest and forced him to take deadly poison.
It was also gathered that the assailants tied the deceased neck to the chair.
A family source attributed the dastardly act to pure assassination, adding that “up till now his phone and automated teller machine (ATM) are still with them.
“They have even tried to withdraw cash with the ATM but for prompt notification from the bank”.
However, the state police command had earlier attributed his death to “suspected culpable homicide.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command Okasanmi Ajayi, said that the case was reported at A Division Police station in Ilorin around 10 pm on Thursday last week by one Kehinde Olaseinde, the supervisor of the hotel.
