The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has directed his counsel to withdraw a suit filed against other members of the Olubadan-in-Council on a threat to his kingship ambition to facilitate the enthronement of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan.
The former Chief Press Secretary to Ladoja, Mr. Adeola Oloko disclosed this in an exclusive telephone chat with the Saturday Tribune on Friday
He said that High Chief Ladoja is committed to the peace of Ibadanland, and thereby he is ready to do anything to ensure that peace reigns in the land.
According to him, ‘Oga has said that he will withdraw the case. He will do so. If he does not withdraw the case in the Court, Olakulehin will not be installed as the next Olubadan.
“The withdrawal of the case is very key to the installation of Olubadan.
“He has directed his lawyers to file withdrawal suit and I am sure between now and Monday the case will be withdrawn.
“Ladoja is committed to the peace of Ibadanland and no sacrifice will be too much for him to pay to do so.
“Like I said, we can neither be provoked nor intimidated.
“The ball is now in the court of Governor Seyi Makinde to approve Olakulehin as the next Olubadan as nominated by the members of Olubadan in Council.
Saturday Tribune recalls that members of the Olubadan in Council met on Thursday to deliberate on the terms of settlement out of court paper.
It was resolved at the meeting that there was no need to sign any paper since they have resolved to comply with the 1957 Chieftancy Declaration of Oyo state.
Speaking on behalf of other members in attendance, the Osi Balogun, Oba Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe said, “Events have overtaken the terms of settlement as stated in the paper that we are asked to sign.
“We have gone through it and discovered that the terms of reference have been met with our strict compliance with the 1957 Chieftaincy Declaration.
“We have realised that our actions and deeds must be in strict compliance with the 1957 Chieftaincy Declaration that is why we honoured his invitation for a meeting for the nomination of Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.“
