An operative of Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Ama Okeke said yesterday that killer of the late Iniubong Umoren, a jobseeker, strangled her with jeans trousers.
One Uduak-Abasi Akpan is facing trial for Umoren’s murder.
Okeke, the 10th prosecution witness (PW10), was giving evidence before a court in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
Umoren was reportedly raped and killed on April 2021.
Okeke told the court that a police team interrogating the suspect recorded his statement, in which he admitted to raping Umoren and later striking her in the abdomen with a stabiliser.
The DSS operative quoted Akpan as saying he stuffed the lady’s mouth a piece of cloth to muffle her shouts before strangling her with a pair of jeans trousers.
Justice Bassey Nkanang adjourned the case till February 15.
