The Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira has commended Lagosians, particularly youths on their peaceful conduct during the #Endbadgovernance protest.

The protest which started nationwide on Monday, August 1 as proposed by the organisers of the protest ‘Take Back Nigeria Movement’ would end on August 10.

Commenting on day 1 of the protest, Apatira commended the youths and other civil society organisations in the state for maintaining decorum during the protest.

He specifically thanked youths within Itire-Ikate LCDA for keeping to their words and not participating in the protest while also reiterating their confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government at the local, state and federal levels.

According to him, the no-protest stance of youths in the state is an indication of people’s willingness, patience and trust in President Bola Tinubu’s administration to deliver on his renewed hope agenda to Nigerians.

He, however, assured of government commitment to addressing current economic challenges and food inflation in the country.

“As announced by Mr Governor, the popular Sunday Markets will resume operations, offering a 25 per cent discount on all major food items. Additionally, the Medical Outreach program, which provided free treatment to thousands of our citizens, will also be reinstated once the logistical arrangements are complete” he announced.

Speaking on his administration’s intervention, he said, “Our administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of our youths and women through various programs, including micro-economic support Initiatives, skill acquisition training programs, economic enhancement food palliatives programmes, free school rides for students, subsidised transportation initiative, schools feeding programs, financial assistance and grants to residents, artisans and small scale businesses.”

These initiatives, he stated, demonstrate his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting the most vulnerable members of our society.

He said, “We must commend the exemplary professionalism displayed by our security agencies, including the Lagos State Police Command, Department of State Services, Military, Civil Defence, Neighbourhood Watch, Community leaders, Religious leaders, Resident Associations, and others. Their dedication to maintaining peace and order is truly appreciated.

“We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the sustained tranquillity and prosperity of our State and communities. Residents are encouraged to pursue their daily activities with confidence, knowing that our security agents are committed to guaranteeing their safety and the unhindered operation of businesses. We remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering a secure and harmonious environment, where all citizens can thrive.”
