

The Lagos State Government arrested several individuals, including the celebrant, event planner, musician, and others, for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during a birthday celebration on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
The individuals arrested are Omolara Ajetumobi, the event planner; Ogundare Olubunmi, the celebrant; Ayodele Busuyi, the musician; Owoeye Adedayo, the sound engineer; and Akinola Akinkunmi, a vendor.

According to the Lagos State authorities, the suspects were apprehended for obstructing traffic and creating an environmental nuisance in the highbrow area of Ikoyi, violating state laws.

The government stressed that the actions of the individuals not only disrupted the free flow of traffic but also posed a hazard to public safety.
The arrested individuals are set to be tried in court in accordance with the state’s regulations.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to enforcing the law, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to disregard the rules that govern the state.
“Everyone must comply with the regulations. Whether it’s a celebration or an event, we will not tolerate actions that disrupt the smooth functioning of the city and endanger public welfare,” a government spokesperson said.
The incident serves as a reminder to Lagos residents that the government will continue to uphold public order, ensuring that citizens abide by traffic and environmental laws.
