Rotary Club of Akoka in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education hosted the grand finale of the annual Inter-school Quiz Competition.
The competition was held in collaboration with 17 other Rotary Clubs in District 9112 at the Rotary Centre, Bank PHB Hall, Lagos.
During the event, students from various public schools in Education Districts I to VI displayed knowledge in critical reasoning and teamwork skills in an intellectually stimulating environment.
In his opening remarks, the District Governor, 9112, Femi Adenekan said the preliminary stage of the competition which started in 2015 was conducted by the Lagos State government.
He stated, “I congratulate the Rotary clubs involved in this year’s activity for a successful event. The annual Inter-quiz competition started in 2015. It was initially limited to Education District 2 but this year, it was on a larger scale, involving the six Education Districts in Lagos State. Lagos State conducted the preliminary competition while the best school in each of the districts came for the grand finale organized by Rotary.
The grand finale ceremony featured the top schools from Lagos State Education Districts I to VI, which had excelled in the earlier rounds of the competition. These finalists competed in a series of challenging rounds across subjects including science, current affairs, and general knowledge. All finalists received certificates of participation as a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the competition.”
Rotary Club of Akoka President, Rtn. (Dr) Doyin Ogunyemi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the clubs that came in unison, the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and school representatives who played vital roles in ensuring the event’s success.
Ogunyemi highlighted the value of initiatives such as this quiz competition in promoting academic excellence and empowering students to become future leaders.
