The newly-elected president of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Lagos State Chapter, Chief Yusuf Alaka, has solicited the cooperation of all the proprietors of private schools under NAPPS in the state.

Chief Owolabi who made the call at the swearing-in ceremony in Lagos said the cooperation of all the proprietors in the state is key to be able to marshal the affairs of NAPPS as the new president.

He noted that part of his vision is to strengthen the structure of private schools in the state, which according to him, could be achieved through the continual training for teachers in all the private schools under NAPPS.

“We will focus on ensuring that our teachers are equipped with adequate and qualitative skills which includes training on various aspects of Information and  Communication Technology (ICT); employment of modern and updated teaching methods to groom the students, strengthening of the already-existing working relationship with schools in Europe, America, Asia and Africa,” he said.

While he noted that international links would help the students in Nigeria to acquire new knowledge and develop skills that can empower them to think globally, he said it would equally enable them to develop intellectual prowess to compete effectively in their future academic and working career.

He stressed the need to equip students through vocational training which could enhance and complement the mainstream academic subjects that are taught in school, emphasising the resolve of the association to further enhance the quality of private school in Lagos in order to produce students with high intellectual standard qualified to be admitted in the university.

He lauded the officials of the Ministry of Education for their support to further encourage the enhancement of sound education in the state, assuring the readiness of NAPPS to persistently collaborate with the state government to uphold qualitative education.

He appreciated the efforts of the immediate past president, Chief Olawale Amusa, whom he described to have demonstrated professional and resolute leadership qualities while charting the course of the association.

‘Having served as an executive under the leadership of Chief Amusa, I have no doubt that I have acquired immeasurable skills, which will be instrumental  to discharging my duties as the new president of NAPPS in Lagos,” he said.

The outgoing president in his  remarks, while handing over to Yusuf, reassured all the schools proprietors under NAPPS in Lagos of the excellent values of a leader that Alaka Yusuf would demonstrate during his tenure.
