On Thursday, the Lagos State government assured state public servants that the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu will continue to promote the culture of physical fitness and mental wellness among them.

The State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Bode Agoro, gave this assurance while speaking at the grand finale of the 17th Edition of the Head of Service Games held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos. He noted that optimal service delivery to citizens is crucial, emphasizing that only healthy workers can ensure such delivery.

Agoro congratulated the winners in different categories, stating that the primary objective of the HOS games was to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among public servants in the state.

He also highlighted that talents discovered in past editions of the HOS Games have represented the state in various competitions, both locally and internationally. He stressed that more talents would be discovered and added to the state’s strength.

Agoro mentioned that the games had grown significantly in terms of talent discoveries and disclosed that more innovations would be introduced in the coming years.

“As of today, the game has grown in leaps and bounds and has become bigger and better, with the majority of MDAs, Local Government, and Local Council Development Areas now showing keen interest in participating in the competition. This is a testament that the competition is now gaining the required wide acceptance from public servants,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyebola, expressed satisfaction with the participation of workers from different ministries, parastatals, and council areas. She urged workers to undergo regular medical checkups to ascertain their health status.

Governor Sanwo-Olu later presented trophies and medals to winners. The New Town Development Agency Team won the Female Tug of War Games, while the Fire Service and Rescue Agency won the Male’s Tug of War Game. The Public Service Office Team emerged victorious in the Female soccer category.

The State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, and other executive cabinet members attended the event.
