Gospel singer Lanre Alewilese has shared his journey into gospel music, citing his childhood experiences as a chorister in church and the transformative power of worship.

“Since I was a kid, I have a heart of worship…anytime I’m praising God, my strength is restored,” Alewilese said.

Alewilese’s music has evolved significantly since his debut, with key influences from his crew and a deepening relationship with God. “We give all the glory to God…it’s been a great journey and experience so far,” he noted.

When asked about his new song “Esi Ayo,” Alewilese explained that it’s “a song written out of compassion for people who have been waiting on God for so long for good news…it’s a motivator that all hope is not lost and their time is almost here.”

Alewilese approaches the creative process with humility, acknowledging that inspiration can strike at any moment. “The source of my inspiration is basically God…sometimes we even get inspiration for songs in the bathroom,” he said with a laugh.

On staying relevant in a competitive industry, Alewilese credited God and emphasized the importance of perfecting one’s craft. “God is the one who makes a person stay relevant…but then one must also perfect his craft to remain relevant,” he advised.

Alewilese has faced numerous challenges, including spiritual attacks and self-doubt, but has overcome them through faith and perseverance. “There was a time we went for a show and I had a pernicious spiritual attack…but God restored my strength,” he shared.

As he continues to make waves in the gospel music industry, Alewilese remains optimistic about the power of faith and music to transform lives. “I’m a believer…staying true to myself has been a part of me,” he said.
