The management of Lekki Deep Sea Port has congratulated Dr Abubakar Dantsoho and Senator Adedayo Adeyeye on their recent appointments as Managing Director and Board Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), respectively.
A statement signed by the Managing Director, Du Ruogang, noted that with Dantsoho’s deep expertise in public service, there is no doubt that he will competently and diligently steer the affairs of the NPA with the objective of enhancing Nigeria’s ports’ efficiency and competitiveness across Africa.
Ruogang also congratulated Senator Adeyeye, on his appointment as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NPA
In the statement, Du Ruogang further noted that Lekki Deep Sea Port has enjoyed immense support from the NPA through the course of its development and construction phases and more so now that it has started commercial operations since April 2023 and he was confident that Lekki Deep Sea Port will continue to be supported to reach its full potential which is in tandem with the objective of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to drive maritime trade to hasten the economic recovery.
Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL) is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that was awarded the Concession Agreement for the development and operations of the Lekki Deep Sea Port by the Nigerian Ports Authority.
LPLEL is required to develop, build and operate a common user multipurpose port. LPLEL sub-concessioned the container terminal operations to Lekki Freeport Terminal (LFT) operated by CMA Terminals, and a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group the world’s third largest container shipping company.
LPLEL is a joint venture enterprise owned by foreign promoters, Lekki Port Investment Holdings Inc (comprising China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. and Tolaram), the Lagos State Government, and the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). LPLEL is incorporated under the Companies & Allied Matters Act and licensed by the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority to operate within the Lagos Free Zone. This opens a host of benefits for Lekki Port regarding taxes, duties, and other incentives.
