Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has praised the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, stating that it marks the end of livestock being a source of acrimony and conflict in Nigeria.
In a post on X, Sani remarked, “Federal Ministry of Livestock Development is a good idea. Livestock can now factor into the economic growth of the country instead of being a source of acrimony and territorial conflict.”
President Bola Tinubu announced the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development during the inauguration of the Presidential Committee on Livestock Reforms at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Tinubu will head the Presidential Committee, with former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, serving as his deputy.
The committee’s mandate includes proposing recommendations to foster peaceful co-existence between herders and farmers while ensuring the security and economic well-being of all Nigerians.
The inauguration was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other cabinet members.
