Senator Lawal Usman of Kaduna Central Senatorial District has responded to the Kaduna Peace and Tranquility Forum’s (KPTF) threat to mobilize for his recall from the National Assembly due to alleged lack of performance.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Segun Olatunji, Senator Usman described the KPTF’s outbursts as “unfortunate” and urged the people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District and the general public not to be deceived by the group’s claims, which he said lacked any truth.

The senator also dismissed the threat of recall, saying it did not bother him. “I am not a bench warmer,” he said.

“Right from day one, I knew my mission in the senate.”

He therefore urged the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District to remain calm, disregard their fourteen days ultimatum.

The lawmaker noted that it is needless to remind them and their ilk that being the Senate Committee Chairman on Education (Basic and Secondary) and Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Financial Matters is no child’s play, as such Committees of national importance are not for the lazy and weak-minded politicians like the sponsors of their group.

The statement partly read, “No one should be surprised by the outbursts of this group. They are not to be taken seriously as far as we’re concerned. When people wake up from the wrong side of their bed, they’re bound to still be groggy and not know when they talk bunkum and misfire.

“The puerile threat by KPTF during their recent press conference to mobilise for the recall of the Distinguished Senator for alleged “failure to stand up and speak on development issues,” if he fails after a 14-day ultimatum to give account of his stewardship, smacks of a dress rehearsal for a light-hearted comedy of errors show.”

The statement listed other achievements of the Senator which include his whopping N150million empowerment of no fewer than 300 youths in his constituency in February this year alone. Each of the beneficiaries selected across the seven local government areas constituting Kaduna Central Senatorial District, the statement recalled, got N500,000 as start-up capital among other.
