The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, has called on Nigerians to prioritize healthy living, emphasizing its benefits for personal well-being and productivity.

Speaking at a healthy living rally, Adebowale, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration Professor Peter Oladigba, highlighted the university’s commitment to promoting a healthy workforce.

He encouraged university faculties to form health committees and promote healthier meeting refreshments, like fruits over pastries.

The university’s Director of Health Services, Dr. Aderonke Ajav, echoed this message, linking the campaign to the World Health Organization’s model for empowering communities through health education.

She noted that health indices among students and staff have declined over the past decade and emphasized the need for collective responsibility in adopting healthier lifestyles.

The university is also enhancing campus health services and training food vendors to provide nutritious options.
