A 28- year old man, Bello Muhammed, is in the custody of Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for alleged kidnap and sexual assault.

Mohammed with others on the run allegedly kidnapped and raped 15 years old Hajarat Ibraheem while in their captivity, it was gathered.

 

Spokesman of the civil defence corps Babawale Afolabi said Muhammed conspired with two other suspects,who are still at large, to kidnap Hajarat in llale village, Oke Ero local government area of the state.

He added they dragged the victim to the bush, tied her hand and raped her severally.

Afolabi added: “Olon Thursday August 5th, 2021, one Yakubu Kelani, 50, came to the NSCDC office in Omu Aran to report that his 15 years old daughter was kidnapped on her way to fetch water on the 29th July, 2021.

“The victim was taken into the bush where he was reportedly raped severally by her abductors who later got in touch with the family of the girl demanding for N15 million as ransom.”

 

He revealed that victim’s family paid some amount of money to the alleged kidnappers, who later released the victim.

He said that Muhammed was unlucky as he was picked up by local vigilante at Kara market, Ajase lpo, Irepodun local government area of the state.

 

The vigilance group subsequently handed him over to the operatives of the NSCDC, he said.

He said “during the interrogation, Muhammed confessed to have committed the crime with his two accomplices who are still at large.

The two other suspects are Umar Abubakar from Ajase lpo and one Babuga.

He said that operatives of the NSCDC are on the trail of the two other suspects.

“The commandant NSCDC kwara state command Iskilu Ayinla Makinde has been briefed of the incident and has ordered for immediate manhunt for the other two suspects while the suspects will be charged to court at the completion of the investigation,” Afolabi said.
