Father of a 12-year-old physically challenged girl has demanded the immediate prosecution of a 60-year-old man, identified as Victor Obilor, for allegedly defiling his daughter.

The man, Eze Eleonu, said he caught Obilor pants down with his physically challenged daughter who, according to him, also has speech as well as hearing impairment.

Eleonu narrated that the suspect, Obilor, who is now cooling his feet at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Rivers State Police Command, had, on Saturday, March 5, 2022, raped his daughter while he was out of his house in Ubima community, in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

Eleonu told newsmen that on entering his room, he saw Obilor stark naked sitting very close to his daughter, who was also naked, and he immediately grabbed him before raising the alarm.

He narrated that the alarm he raised attracted a neighbour to his compound who helped in securing the said Obilor before the arrival of members of a local vigilante group, who took him to their office and in turn handed him over to the Ubima Police Division.

“I was coming back from Omagwa and alighted from a motorcycle in the front of my compound and I noticed that the door to my house was open, which raised my suspicions.

“As I approached the room, I saw somebody that got up from a chair stark naked. I was able to recognise him immediately.

“His name is Victor Obilor. I held him and I saw my daughter on the couch with her dress folded slightly above her breasts. So I had to start shouting, calling on people to come to see what Victor did to my daughter.

“We held him before OSPAC vigilante came and carried him to their office. The man was transferred to the Ubima police division.

“On Monday, the DCO came and gave me a doctor’s report to go to any government hospital and run a check, and when we went to a hospital, the doctor said there was a penetration.

“I need justice. They should charge the matter to court,” Eleonu stated.

Reacting to the incident, a rights group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, has called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

A member of the group, Gladys Onyenmwen, urged the police to tidy up the investigation and arraign the suspect in court.

When contacted, acting spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was yet to hear the report.

Iringe-Koko promised to find out from the Ubima division and get back to our correspondent, but she had yet to do as at the time of filing this report. Continue Reading
