An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court has remanded Amosun Abodunrin, 33, for stealing and running away from a police cell.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq told the court that the accused person committed the offence on the 6th of August 2019, at about 2:00 pm at Owo-Eye street, Oke Onitea Area Sabo, Osogbo.
He said the accused person stole 48,000 and 1,044,500 cefa equivalent of N996,500.
He explained that the offence committed is contrary and punishable under section 411 (1 and 2) 34 vol.11 laws of Osun State of Nigeria.
After his arrest, the prosecutor further alleged that the accused person, on September 5, 2019 at about 10:30 at Dugbe police station old Garage Area, Osogbo did escape from Police cell.
The accused, thereby, committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 135 of criminal code CAP 34 vol.11 law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The Defence Council, Amosun Abodunrin pleaded with the court to grant the accused person bail in liberal terms.
However, Magistrate A.A Adegbaye ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison till further notice.
