NO fewer than 60 women have been trained in fashion design and given free sewing machines each as part of a training programme organised by Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, (MFM ), Ondo State Mega Region 1, South West 4, Akure, Ondo State.
The church also gave full scholarships to 50 indigent students within and outside the church to enable them to have sound education, which will in turn contribute to development and a better society.
According to the Regional Overseer, Pastor Ademola Adeniyi, the church also distributed food items, provisions, and toiletries to 800 households to mark the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Daniel Olukoya’s birthday, as well as distributed over 500 exercise books to students.
He added that in a bid to ensure healthy living for all, the church held free medical outreaches where members of the public benefitted from free medical examination/ diagnosis counseling and treatment, as well as, free hepatitis B, blood sugar test, and blood pressure check with counseling and treatment.
Pastor Adeniyi explained that as part of the efforts to bring succour to the downtrodden in society, the church offered cash gifts and free skill acquisition to the widowed, the women, and the youth at large as well as engaging the youths through sporting activities.
He said the MFM Ondo State mega Region 1 Akure had other spiritual programmes, which had brought salvation, spiritual, emotional, and physical healing to attendees while also transforming the nation economically such as couples dinners, women’s programme, and entrepreneurial seminars, ICT teachings and training for youths.
One of the beneficiaries of the free fashion design training, a single mother, Onyinye Onu, noted that she had always desired to become a fashion designer but could not due to a lack of finances
The 30-year-old said her dream became a reality when she learned of a free eight-month fashion training organised by the MFM, South West 4 Regional Headquarters, Akure.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Bolanle Mercy, expressed her happiness as she had always had the goal to learn sewing and also own a fashion home.
“The whole thing was becoming gloomy until I met with MFM, South-West 4, Akure Mega Axis where women are trained in fashion designing as well as given free sewing machines and even given free food during their period of learning. Now, things are different, I can sew,” she noted.
Narrating her experience, another beneficiary, 17-year-old Omoloye Miracle said, “I lost my father at an early age and after my secondary education, I was introduced to the training programme at MFM. Now, I can sew English dresses, corporate and official wear, native wear, casual wear, and children’s wear. I can also make hats and turbans to match.”
In his remarks, the Regional Overseer of MFM Ondo State Mega Region 1, SW 4, Akure, Pastor Ademola Adeniyi, stated that the training programme is the vision conceived by the General Overseer of the church to economically empower people.
Also speaking, an instructor in the programme, a fashion design specialist, Pastor (Mrs) Olufunmilayo Oluwalonimi, noted that the training and the lives it impacted gave her utmost joy.
“Since I have been training women and empowering them and through prayers, I have been able to take some of them out of depression. Many women have discovered their purpose for living and they are working to achieve it,” she said.
