The Minister for Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Abubakar Momoh, on Thursday, urged the people of Edo State to hold Governor Godwin Obaseki accountable for allegedly hoarding palliative rice provided by the Federal Government for distribution to the poor.

Momoh made this statement during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Auchi, ahead of the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State.

He accused Obaseki of re-bagging the rice with labels of the Edo State Government and images of Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the election.

“Obaseki denied Edo people palliative rice which the Federal Government gave him to distribute to the poor,” Momoh claimed, further stating, “I will show people what NDDC has done in the state when we start ward-to-ward campaigns.”

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC governorship candidate, also spoke at the event, promising to create over 5,000 jobs for youths in the state within his first 100 days in office.

Okpebholo emphasized that his development agenda would build on the foundation laid by former Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

He also pledged to create a peaceful environment in the state, stating that the issues of kidnapping and other criminal activities would end with the Obaseki-led government.
