The Minister of Youth Development, Dr Jamila Bio, has unveiled the Ministry’s plans to promote renewable energy and agroforestry in Borno as part of broader efforts under the Youth Enterprise Clusters (PIYEC), supported by the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF).

The Minister emphasised Borno’s potential in these sectors, driven by its geographic advantages and natural resources, which could position the state as a leader in green energy and sustainable agriculture.

She said, “Borno has immense potential for growth in renewable energy and agroforestry,” Dr. Ibrahim noted. “By focusing on these areas, we can create a robust ecosystem where youth-led enterprises thrive, driving economic recovery and resilience in the region.”

The Minister expressed gratitude to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and the people of Borno for their warm hospitality and commitment to rebuilding the state despite numerous challenges.

She acknowledged the remarkable strength and courage of the people of Borno in the face of adversity, saying their resilience is an inspiration to the entire nation.

While recognizing youths’ resilience and the active engagement, she also praised the youth of the Northeast for their perseverance and commitment to growth, even amidst adversity.

She also encouraged them to actively participate in the government’s programs and leverage the opportunities being provided to transform their communities.

“Your innovative spirit is paving the way for a brighter future,” she said. “The Federal Ministry of Youth Development is here to support you, but we need your engagement, ideas, and leadership.”

The Minister also emphasized the government’s efforts to enhance the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by integrating skills training and empowerment programs that are especially relevant to the Northeast, promoting both immediate and long-term stability and development.

She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Borno State Government and all stakeholders to ensure that youth-focused programs are tailored to the region’s unique needs.

“Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous Northeast and Nigeria,” she affirmed, inviting the youth to share their thoughts and concerns actively.

The Minister’s engagement in Borno is part of a broader nationwide effort to ensure that young Nigerians are not only aware of the government’s programs but also actively involved in shaping and benefiting from them, laying the foundation for a future built by and for the youth.
