Nigerian South African-based businessman, Charles Awuzie, has offered Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant’s Kwara contestant, Ufa Dania, a brand ambassadorship deal.
Awuzie, who is the founder of Gemsbok Group and convener of Evolve Camp Conference, recently offered the 25-year-old Miss Kwara an ambassadorship deal for Gemsbok Technologies in Nigeria to support the next phase of her career.
“She will be the face of our Gemsbok I.T Academy,” he said.
The businessman also offered the beauty queen an all-expense trip to the Evolve Camp Conference event holding late this September in Lagos.
Awuzie reached out to Miss Kwara because of the humiliation she faced from people, mostly non-Nigerians, who body-shamed her because of her body size during the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 contest.
He emphasised that Miss Kwara is a beauty queen and that people are free to campaign for whoever they like, adding that Miss Kwara, just like Chidimma, has shown resilience.
The businessman said he would discuss other offers with Ufa Dania and develop a strategy to grow her brand beyond the competition.
“Both Chidimma (winner of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024) and Ufa will attend the Evolve Conference. Just like Chidinma, Ufa is going to be a household name in Africa, and this is the beginning for her,” he added.
Reacting to Awuzie’s ambassadorship offer, Miss Kwara said, “I prayed, and I did not know this was how God would choose to answer my prayers.”
Ufa Dania was credited as the first plus-size contestant in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
She admitted that she struggled with anxiety even before applying for the contest but decided to face the challenge head-on.
During the Miss Universe Nigeria contest, Ufa Dania was popular among South Africans who not only supported her via social media but also massively voted for her against Chidimma Adetshina, the controversial Miss South Africa 2024 contestant, who represented Taraba State in the Miss Universe Nigeria contest.
