The Court of Appeal, Abuja division, made a significant ruling on Friday, November 17, by unseating Abba Kabir Yusuf and affirming Yusuf Gawuna of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful governor of Kano State.
A three-member panel of justices, in a unanimous decision, declared Governor Yusuf ineligible as a valid candidate in the state’s gubernatorial election held on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
The Court upheld that evidence presented by the concerned parties substantiated that Governor Yusuf was not a bona fide member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) at the time of the election.
This ruling altered the electoral outcome, declaring Yusuf Gawuna of the APC as the authentic victor in the gubernatorial contest.
However, the Court’s final judgement has evoked a mixed reception within the political landscape, stirring diverse reactions.
Predictably, Nigerians took to various social media platforms to express their diverse opinions on this development.
Tribune Online gathered and highlighted a selection of comments from X page (previously known as Twitter).
