SOME prominent Nigerian actors and musicians have expressed hope ahead of Monday’s inauguration of Senator Bola Tinubu as the president of Nigeria, asking the president-elect to work hard and return the country to prosperity and safety.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune about his expectations, veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, disclosed that Nigeria may be facing some of the toughest times now but with the personality of the incoming president, Tinubu, it should only be a matter of time before things began to get better for the country and its peoples.

While tasking the incoming administration to formulate policies capable of creating enabling environment for the movie industry and its practitioners, Kosoko observed that with the boom currently being experienced in the entertainment industry, it was expedient for the government to protect the interest of theatre practitioners with friendly policies.

“I know Bola Tinubu personally and I am certain that he will do well for Nigeria. I know that things are bad but he’s not the kind of man that will get into office and start making excuses about how bad things are but rather get to work and justify the trust and mandate given to him by millions of Nigerians. So, I am hopeful that he will perform well”, he said.

In his own submission, popular actor, movie writer and producer, Alhaji Kareem Adepoju, better known as Baba Wande, said: “The incoming administration needs a lot of prayers. Muhammadu Buhari’s successor needs our prayers. The country needs prayers to survive and stabilise. We need God’s intervention in our affairs. We need to call unto Him.

“We all should pray for the incoming president to succeed so that we don’t go from frying pan and end up in fire. We should pray that people who mislead leaders will not mislead him (Tinubu). By God’s grace, he will succeed.”

Also speaking, Bonsue Fuji exponent, Adewale Ayuba, noted that Nigeria would get it right “if the president-elect gets Nigerians on his side by doing what the people truly want.” He said with a battered and biting economic condition, “Tinubu needs to hit the ground running and put his best foot forward.”

In his response to how Nigerian will fare under Tinubu’s government, maverick entertainer, Charly Boy, stated that Nigeria should not expect a miracle to happen soon as they are envisaging, pointing out that with the flawed process that produced the current leadership, there seems not to be justice and fairness that Nigerians truly deserve.

“I don’t have anything against Tinubu and I really think he has done well for himself but that doesn’t mean I am happy about how he emerged and the process that brought him in.

“I don’t expect any miracle from him because it seems successive governments after the tenure of Olusegun Obasanjo have been competing for failure. From the Jonathan administration to the disastrous government of Buhari, Nigerians have been faced with untoward hardship and I don’t see Tinubu doing anything different,” he added.
