Farmers in Osun State are facing a dire situation as their crops wither due to a lack of rainfall. In response, Muslims across the thirty local government areas of the state gathered on Sunday in their communities to seek divine intervention for abundant rains to revive their farmlands.
The convergence occurred simultaneously across all communities early in the day, with participants pleading for God’s help to end the ongoing drought.
In Osogbo, the state capital, hundreds of Muslim faithful assembled at the Osogbo Central Eid prayer ground for a special prayer session led by Sheikh Musa Animashaun, the Grand Imam and Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas, Osun State. The worshippers gathered to beseech God for rain.
During the prayer session, Sheikh Animashaun emphasised the importance of rededicating oneself to God, seeking His guidance, and making a total submission to Allah’s will. He urged the residents of Osun State to seek forgiveness and blessings from God.
Sheikh Animashaun stated: “Whenever there is a possible threat of drought, we are enjoined by Allah (SWT) through His Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) that we should go back to Him and seek His guidance and forgiveness.”
