Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, has adjourned until January 25, 2025, a divorce suit brought before it by a man, Akintade, against his wife, Ajoke, whom he accused of threat to his life and promiscuity.

Akintade stated that he rented an apartment for Ajoke, but that he stopped visiting her there after she suddenly changed and became distant and unapproachable.

Akintade added that Ajoke had, on many occasions, threatened to kill him.

The plaintiff further added that he was informed that she was in the habit of bringing home other men who slept with her.

According to Akintade, Ajoke later moved out of the apartment and went away with all his property.

The plaintiff, therefore, prayed the court to put a stop to their relationship.

Ajoke refused to make an appearance in court despite being served court summonses.

Akintade, in his testimony, said, “I spent a fortune making my wife comfortable.

“I rented an apartment for her and furnished it, but she suddenly changed towards me and became cold.

“She treated me with disdain any time I visited her at her place and would make the time I spent there not pleasurable.

“We always ended up arguing any time I called her attention to her unwelcoming attitude, and I would leave her place, angry.

“We once had a misunderstanding, and she threatened to kill me.

“I became afraid of her and stopped visiting her.

“I was later informed by some people living in her neighbourhood that she was in the habit of bringing different men into the apartment I rented for her who slept with her.

“The last time I went to her house, I met an empty room.

“Her landlord informed me that she had moved out of her apartment.

“My lord, Ajoke went away with all that I furnished her place with.

“I pray this honourable court to dissolve our marriage.”

The president of the court, Mrs S.M Akintayo, after she had heard the plaintiff adjourned the case.
