The Naira scarcity persists on Thursday in Lagos despite the assurance by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to flood commercial banks across the country with old notes from Monday as Lagosians still found it difficult to cash through ATMs from their various banks.

A respondent, Gbenga Adewale, narrated his experience while speaking with our correspondent, saying that he was at GT Bank located close to the Central Mosque at Alausa, Ikeja, to withdraw money at the ATM within the bank premises but was disappointed as the machine failed to dispense any cash.

According to him, he was not the only person that suffered such disappointment, saying that he met several other people who were eager to withdraw money but could not do so.

“I was at the ATM at GT Bank at Alausa, Ikeja this morning to withdraw money but all the machine was saying was that it was “temporarily unable to dispense cash.”

“I was disappointed as no cash was left on me, I needed the money. I was not the only person who was affected, I met some people who were also there to withdraw money but were unable to do it,” he said.

Adewale, however, said he learnt that Polaris Bank located right inside the Lagos State Government Secretariat could only pay N3,000 each to its customers at the counter.
