The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, for his exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication to advancing Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

In a statement on Sunday, NANS President Comrade Lucky Emonefe praised the recent release of NNPCL’s 2023 Audited Financial Statement, which highlighted a “remarkable asset growth of 322% to N246.8 trillion,” describing it as a strong testament to Kyari’s visionary leadership and strategic foresight.

According to him, under Kyari’s astute leadership, NNPC Ltd has consistently demonstrated a firm commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational resilience, leading to the company’s impressive financial performance.

Emonefe added that the significant increase in assets, along with a pre-tax profit of N5.98 trillion and a net profit of N3.29 trillion, clearly indicates the company’s steady progress toward achieving its strategic objectives.

“While we celebrate NNPCL’s achievements, we also urge Nigerians to exercise patience and understanding with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as it tackles the complexities of economic recovery and growth,” he stated.

The NANS President noted that the recent removal of the fuel subsidy, though challenging, was a necessary step toward economic sustainability and growth.

He added that the bold decision to remove the petrol subsidy would redirect resources into critical sectors, drive economic diversification, and create opportunities for all Nigerians.

On the pains and sufferings associated with the subsidy removal, Emonefe said: “We acknowledge the initial difficulties brought about by the subsidy removal but are confident that the long-term benefits will far outweigh the temporary challenges.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda, led by President Tinubu, is a comprehensive plan aimed at revitalizing our economy, creating jobs, and improving living standards.

“We assure Nigerians that this administration is fully committed to the well-being and prosperity of all citizens.

“We commend Mele Kyari, along with the board and management of NNPC Ltd, for their exceptional leadership, which has instilled hope and confidence in Nigeria’s economic future.

“We are confident that their dedication and expertise will continue to drive Nigeria’s economic progress and growth.

“Once again, we express our gratitude to Nigerians for their patience and perseverance. We assure you that the Renewed Hope Agenda is a beacon of hope for a brighter future, and we are committed to working together to achieve a prosperous Nigeria for all,” he stated.
