The leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has called for support for some of its student leaders and past unionists vying for elective positions in state elections in Edo and Delta States respectively.
Deputy Senate President of NANS, Comrade Ekundina Segun Elvis, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said the candidates standing in the state elections in Edo and Delta for various positions, have been tested hands who have always stood firm for justice, equity, and inclusivity.
He listed the candidates to include; Comrade Osaro Ogieva, contesting for councillorship, at Ward 9 Oredo Local Government, Edo State; Comrade Kenneth Adodo, contesting for Chairman, Uhunwode Local Government, Edo State and Comrade Joshua Agbaja, vying for Councillor, Ward 1, Unit 59, Uvwie Local Government Council, Delta State.
Elvis noted that NANS “stands firmly in support of a trio of exceptional young leaders poised to illuminate the political landscape of Edo and Delta States.
“These are individuals, who have emerged from the crucible of student activism and community engagement, embody the very essence of youthful dynamism, commitment, and transformative leadership,” he stated.
He added the student body has not just endorsed the candidates but would continue to mobilise members and their community people to massively vote for them, knowing well that once they are elected, they would make a difference and positively impact their people, especially in the area of mobilizing support for revitalization of education in their states.
“NANS, the vanguard of youth empowerment and advocacy, recognizes that student unionism is not merely a rehearsal for the political theater, but a robust training ground where future leaders are forged.
“It is with this conviction that we enthusiastically endorse the following gallant contenders, each of whom has paid their dues over time, honing their skills and cultivating the best ideas within the platform of Students Unionism,” he said.
