Education is the essential passport to brighter and greater future.
In a bid to achieve academic prosperity for all Osun Students, there is greater need for execution of developmental project across conventional institutions in Osun State and implementation of life changing policy for all intelligentsia.
We took it upon ourselves as the most recognized and apex student body in Osun State to demand proper funding of Education from Osun state government ably led by His excellency Governor Gboyega Oyetola owing to the present condition of various conventional institutions in Osun State, most particularly state own institutions, in terms Structural development, Roads, Libraries ,Laboratories and issues of under staffing. One of the primary responsibility of working Government is provision of sound and Affordable education for her citizens with crucial recourse to enabling environment.
As good student of history, it’s imperative to state that in years back conventional institutions across Osun State haven’t been receiving proper attention from Osun State Government in terms of developmental projects, the very problem that’s contributing to acute deterrent in individual growth and academic excellence of many student.
As prudent and virtuous leaders we’ve make right circumspection and met with necessary stakeholders in Education sectors to register our unease as well as working out modalities to proffer solutions to the existing predicament which is yet to muster needed results owing to the fact that the situation of institutions remain unchanged.
However silence becomes greater injustice at a point in time when voice is needed to be raised and truth is needed to be heard. As prudent and virtuous leaders we’ve been to most of institutions and we’ve ascertained the level of development in most of our institutions and how it affects students populace, the bitter truth remains institutions are not properly developed and this speaks volumes on students wellbeing.
In a bid for entire public to get the clearer view of our concerns there’s need to compartmentalized the predicament into different cardinal point.
1.*STRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT/BASIC AMENITIES:* The significant development most institutions are enjoying in terms of structural development in various institutions are handi work of TETFUND not directly from State Government which has enable the development to be average in most of the institutions. It must be recall that for iron time no single structural development has gained it way from government hand down to our learning institute which depicts that the state government is not highly concerned with development of our institutions. We are of opinion that in a bid to produce highly competitive graduates with excellence skills in proffering solutions to socio political and economy problems of the immediate society. Government in all directions must take lead in creating enabling environment for intelligentsia that will aid academic prosperity. It’s on this note we are charging the state government to find solutions to the following:
• RENOVATION OF DILLAPIDATED LECTURE THEATRE :The present lecture theater in most institutions poses a greater threat to adequate security of our students, we believe if renovated will enhance security of our dear students.
•CONSTRUCTION OF MODERN LECTURE THEATRE
• CONSTRUCTION OF MODERN TOILET. We charge government to hold management of each institutions responsible as they can equality aid in this regard without putting the burden on the government alone.
2.LACK OF GOOD ROADS: Good roads enhances adequate welfarism of students, as students varies in term of health status, however we have some students who are asthmatic patients, and allergic to dust, the present road situation poses a greater threat to such students as it’s not easy to be perfect all time. As proactive students leaders we must state that institutions road is becoming a death trap for many students with health challenges and motorists, this serves as source of concern to our leadership.
It’s necessary to ventilate that state government should do away from empty promises, they should as of now set into action of executing the pronouncement made regarding already approved 1KM road for all state own institutions which is yet to be executed.
NANS JCC Osun Axis is charging the State Government on speedy execution of already approved 1km road in a bid to avert any kind of danger the institutions bad roads might cause for generality of Students.
3. UNDER STAFFING PROBLEM : The adverse effect of under staffing tells greatly on how education is degenerating to mere trend. It’s necessary to nail that the last recruitment in Osun was 2015 which is not good enough to nail that the present day government prioritize education. Today in various institutions we have many unskilled lecturer as a result of rescue missions masterminded by the school management ( I G R Lecturers )in recruiting the available while saddling them with Herculean task that most them are not prepared for, which is having aggravating effect on academic life of our students as many of this personnel would have been best employed in Administrative part of institutions. We commend prudent act of some management as regards this while we are on the Same vein condemning the Non challant attitude of Government as regards under staffing most especially in higher institutions. We charging the state government on the need to increase work force in institutions both teaching and Non teaching most especially health center workers in a bid to achieve academic prosperity.
We condemned In totality the snail process that characterized the teaching recruitment that it news has been making round for past a year without definite actualization. We charge ministry of Education to be more productive and proactive in their dealings and resuscitate the lost hope of masses in the recruitment.
4. STANDARD/MODERN LIBRARIES AND LABORATORIES: it’s no a doubting fact that some institutions are lacking when it comes to standard libraries and laboratories where student can engage in rigorous academic research to advance in their respective course of study. It remains the greatest truth that our institutions libraries and laboratories need proper redevelopment through proper funding and get equipped with modern equipment and new books for proper academic research. Standard libraries and laboratories remain pivotal catalyst to academic excellence.
It’s to the above wake of fact we are demanding from Osun state Government and institutions management to proffer a better solution to the current problem by channeling their strength to education proper funding as this would help to build better and greater future for our dear state.
Conclusively ! NANS JCC leadership is using this medium to charge Osun state government to get set in act by developing our institutions of learning and redevelopment where necessary in a bid to create enabling environment for intelligentsia thereby strengthening academic prosperity for more opportunities and possibilities from the ends of teeming promising youth. We hold to be self evident that any society that fails to invest massively in education will enjoy ceaseless wallowing in the deep ocean of retrogression and vice versa.
