National President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, has described the passing of Ustaz Yunus Usman SAN as shocking and devastating.
In his condolence message, titled “The Bar Has Lost a Towering Legal Icon,” which he personally signed and shared with journalists on Monday in Minna, Osigwe expressed that the NBA was deeply shocked by Usman’s death.
He described the late legal icon as a motivator, Life Bencher, distinguished leader of the NBA Kaduna Branch, and a legal luminary of exceptional caliber.
Osigwe noted that the Bar has lost a towering legal icon who has now returned to his Maker for eternal rest.
He emphasized that Usman’s shining example inspired many, and until the end, he championed and upheld the noble principles of the legal profession.

While the Bar mourns the loss of this remarkable individual, Osigwe also celebrated the legacy Usman left behind. He acknowledged Usman’s unprecedented dedication and distinction as a leader of the NBA Kaduna Branch and praised his steadfast commitment to truth, fairness, sincerity, and unwavering kindness.
Osigwe affirmed that Usman was a shining example of the highest ideals and standards of the legal profession. His contributions to the legal landscape and the nation will be remembered and revered.
The NBA National President expressed that Usman’s passing will be deeply felt by his family, the NBA Kaduna Branch, and the entire legal profession in Nigeria. He acknowledged that Usman’s absence will leave a significant void, given his stature as a true giant among his peers, a beacon of excellence, and a bastion of integrity.
He concluded by praying for the Almighty to forgive Usman’s shortcomings and grant him al-Jannah Firdausi and extended his sincere condolences to Usman’s family and the members of the NBA Kaduna Branch.
He said, “he was a legal giant who steadfastly upheld the virtues of truth, fairness, sincerity and above all an unwavering kindness that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing the deceased.”
“He was a shining example of the highest ideals and standards of the legal profession, and his contributions to the legal landscape and the nation as a whole will be remembered and revered.
“It is beyond doubt that the passing of this Legal Icon will be deeply felt by his beloved family, the NBA Kaduna Branch, and the entire legal profession in Nigeria.
“His absence will leave an indelible void that will be difficult to fill, for he was a true giant among his peers, a beacon of excellence, and a bastion of integrity.
“As we pray that the Almighty forgives all his shortcomings and grants him al Jannah Firdausi.
