The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Zamfara State has flagged off life skills training of 50 unemployed Youths under the Basic national open apprenticeship scheme (B-NOA5) on Hairdressing, Barbing, makeup, fashion design and Shoemaking in the state.

Declaring the training open, the Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Fikpo who was represented by Zamfara State Coordinator, Hajiya Hamza Khadija said it was a scheme that was Designed and implemented by the VSD Department, to help youth both males and females to acquire marketable skills within the society.

“I am highly excited to be with you today for another wonderful opportunity for our selected trainees of the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) in various skills that include Fashion Design, Makeup, Barbing Saloon, Computer, Shoe and Bag Making”.

“This training is going on in Twelve (12) selected states and we are lucky Zamfara state is among the twelve (12) selected states. NDE Trained Master Trainers, Training outlets are used across the states”.

“NDE has over the years created a lot of job opportunities to both males and females in the state by Training them and assisting the successful trainees with a starter pack of resettlement for self-employment”.

She stressed that the orientation and life skills Training is for fifty (50) selected trainees drawn from (14) Local government areas of the state.

“All the fifty (50) Trainees undergoing this training would be paid a monthly stipend of N5,000.00 per month for the period of the training and the trainers will be paid for their services at the rate of N5,000 per trainee in each month depending on the number of trainees attached to the master-trainer”.

“I want to request the indulgence of the trainees to be steadfast in their training wherever they might be posted and to remain committed in the training”

She maintained that NDE will not tolerate any act of indiscipline from any trainee and where such case exists we will not hesitate to take appropriate action, “including withdrawal of a trainee from the programme immediately,” she warned.

Earlier in his address, the Zamfara state Commissioner of the Ministry of Youth and Skills Acquisition represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Tukur Shehu appreciated the efforts of the federal government through the National Directorate of Employment, NDE for organising the training for unemployed Youths In the state.

He stressed that it was an opportunity that was lost before, but God be the glory Zamfara state is now reaping the opportunity which is a welcome development.

He urged the participants to be alive to what they would learn during the training, listen, pay attention and be dedicated to what they would acquire.
