The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the successful seizure of illegal drugs worth over N2.6 billion in Jigawa State.
The drugs were confiscated during a targeted operation spanning Jigawa and Kano states.
The seizure, carried out in Gumel, led to the arrest of three suspects who were allegedly transporting the narcotics to various destinations, including Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi, and even Niger Republic.

The NDLEA operation, described as highly coordinated and based on thorough intelligence gathering, culminated in the confiscation of significant quantities of Tramadol tablets and Pregabalin Capsules, among other substances.
The suspects, identified as Jamilu Muhammad, Abba Ibrahim, and Shuaibu Umar, were arrested while traveling in two vehicles a Toyota Sienna and an 18-seater Hummer bus both loaded with the illicit drugs.
“The operation was planned for a long time and was successful due to intelligence gathering,” said Musa Maina, the NDLEA Commander for Jigawa State. He also highlighted the scale of this operation, describing it as one of the agency’s major successes in combating drug trafficking in the region.
The NDLEA emphasised that the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation to identify the masterminds behind this large-scale trafficking operation. Maina stated, “NDLEA would not relent in its efforts to combat drug trafficking, and our commitment to fighting drug trafficking is evident in its actions.”
As the investigation continues, the agency has reiterated its resolve to maintain a tough stance against drug-related crimes in Nigeria, ensuring that all those involved face the full legal consequences.
