Youth clubs and associations in Borno State have lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) for removing Senator Ali Ndume as Chief Whip after requesting him to leave the party.

The group’s National Chairman, Bulama Ali Sawa, in a press briefing in Maiduguri on Tuesday, described the APC’s action as “reckless” and “a slap in the face of Borno people.”

Ndume’s recent interview on Arise TV, where he criticized the government’s policies and spoke about the hardships faced by Nigerians, was said to have irked the APC leadership.

According to the youth groups, Ndume’s contributions to the state and nation cannot be ignored, citing his support for education and mentorship of young people.

“We condemn the APC’s decision in strong terms,” said a spokesperson for the groups. “Ndume has been a shining light in the darkness of Nigerian politics.” The groups passed a vote of confidence in Ndume and urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and reverse the decision.

“We appeal to President Tinubu to listen to the voice of reason and not allow political vendetta to destroy the party,” the spokesperson added. The development has sparked a heated debate about the APC’s internal dynamics and its implications for the party’s future.
