The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved permits for captive power generation, totaling 63.36MW, for 11 applicants, including Nigerian Breweries and several universities.

Captive power allows these entities to generate electricity for their own use, boosting energy independence.

Nigerian Breweries has been granted permission to produce up to 41MW for its facilities in Abia, Oyo, and Enugu states.
