Niger State Government has expressed its gratitude to all stakeholders and residents of the state for excusing themselves from active participation in the recent nationwide hunger and hardship protests against the Federal Government
The Government stated this while speaking through the Acting Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba in a state-wide radio broadcast on Monday in Minna the State capital to the people of the state on the outcome of the August 1, 2024 , nationwide protests, describing the stakeholders and residents of the State as the driving force behind the state’s progress.

According to him, “Your commitment to unity, mutual respect, and constructive dialogue is not just commendable, but it is the very essence of our collective dedication to the progress and development of Niger State”, emphasizing that dialogue and understanding were the cornerstones of resolving conflicts and advancing the development of our State.
The acting governor also commended the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, the heads of other security agencies, and the vigilante group, as well as Traditional, Religious, leaders including the Organized Labour Unions, National Youth Council, National Association of Nigerian students, Transport Unions and Niger State Association of the Nigerian Students including the Vigilante group among others for their relentless efforts and sacrifices to ensure the safety and stability of communities during the period.
Accordingly, he said, “Your dedication has been vital in maintaining the collective resolve of our people”.
He thereby extended his sincere thanks to the media and all practising journalists in Niger State, stressing that, “your tireless work in promoting our government’s initiatives has been instrumental in our quest to accelerate the state’s growth and development.”
Garba, however, reiterated government ‘s willingness and eagerness to convey the feelings, concerns and aspirations of the residents of the State residents to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying your voices matter, and we will ensure that they are heard and that your interests are represented at the national level”
Consequently, he said, “We will not hesitate to engage with the Federal Government to address the challenges facing our state and nation,” the acting governor said.
The Acting Governor, however, condemned the violence that occurred during the protest in Tafa Local Government Area of the State, resulting in the loss of properties, despite a town hall meeting with stakeholders where they unanimously decided against participating in the nationwide protest.
