The Niger State Government has, as a matter of urgency, called on the people of Kpakungu in Chanchaga local government area of the state to remain calm.

This assurance was given by the State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, shortly after addressing the protesters at the Kpakungu roundabout in Minna, the state capital, on Monday.
He added that the state government will continue to distribute palliatives to the downtrodden people in society.
The Deputy Governor explained that the state government is very much aware of the economic hardship faced by its citizens and advised them to shun violent protests.
He urged them to remain calm as modalities have been put in place to ease their sufferings.
Meanwhile, some angry protesters stated that economic hardship has left them with no option but to protest in their hundreds to draw the state government’s attention to their needs.
